What is IBX nail treatment?

IBX treatment nails is a salon-only repair that sinks into the top layers of the keratin and hardens there, fusing splits and flakes back into one solid surface. Gel, BIAB and hardening polish all sit on top. This works from the inside, so you can’t see it or feel it, there is nothing to remove, and it simply grows out. It was developed by Famous Names, a US brand run by a former CND chief executive, and only trained technicians can apply it in salons.

Two formulas, two jobs

  • IBX Repair. The thinner of the two, made for tips that split, crack or show small pits. It seeps into the walls of each damaged spot and holds them together like double-sided tape, sealing the very top layer where the damage shows. It always comes first and never goes on without its partner.
  • IBX Strengthen. The main formula, which fuses the upper layers of the plate into one reinforced structure. It is the only one of the two that works as a standalone, so tips that are weak but not yet splitting get this step alone.

How IBX repair nail treatment works

Keratin is built from thin stacked layers. Rushed soak-offs and scraped gel pull gaps between them, and those gaps are why tips flake, bend and snap just as they gain length. The system closes them in four stages:

  • Spot repair. The Repair formula goes only where damage is visible.
  • Gentle warmth. At 41–44°C, a little warmer than a hot tub, heat carries each formula inward with the help of jojoba and avocado oils.
  • Blot and cure. The excess is blotted off, then an LED lamp sets what has soaked in.
  • Full coverage. Strengthen goes over the whole plate and repeats the warm, blot and cure cycle, twice on a first visit.

Once cured, the formula bonds to itself rather than to your keratin and contains no formaldehyde. The result is tough but still flexible, never brittle.

Ways to book it

  • On its own. Finished with a buff and a natural look. A first visit takes around 30 minutes, follow-ups about 15.
  • Before colour. Applied under the base coat of a gel manicure. It adds 15–20 minutes and protects the plate at the next soak-off.
  • Under an overlay. Applied to new regrowth before a BIAB infill. Builder gel gives structure on top, while this repairs underneath.
  • On toes. The same process fits into a pedicure for toenails that split at the edge.
  • In the same hour as other services. Two specialists can work at once, so it sits easily alongside a classic manicure or makeup.

How many sessions you need

  • Weekly for three to four sessions when damage is heavy. Never more often, as overtreatment makes keratin brittle.
  • Every two to three weeks once flaking stops.
  • Once a month to hold the result.

Growth runs at about 3 mm a month, so a fully renewed plate reaches the tip in three to four months.

Who IBX nail strengthening treatment suits

  • Thin, bendy tips after gel or acrylic removal
  • Flaking at the free edge, splits and ridges
  • Regular gel wearers protecting what’s underneath
  • Jobs that rule out polish, and men with corners that crack
  • Anyone whose length keeps snapping before it grows

Who should wait

  • Plates lifting away from the bed (onycholysis)
  • Fungal infection, which needs medical treatment first
  • Nail psoriasis, which needs a dermatologist’s advice first
  • A past reaction to acrylates or nail products
  • Broken or inflamed skin around the fingertips
  • Pregnancy combined with sensitive skin, which calls for a word with your doctor first

Step by step IBX nail treatment at PIED-DE-POULE

01
Dry Preparation

Any old polish or gel comes off first, and your technician checks each tip for splits, thinning and lifting. The plates are then shaped and cleansed without soaking, since water swells keratin and blocks the formula from getting in. On very weak tips, the procedure goes on before any filing or cuticle work.

02
Repairing Damaged Areas

The thin Repair formula goes only onto visible damage: split edges, lifting layers and small pits. Where layers are separating, it is pressed between them so it seals them from inside. Your hands then rest under gentle warmth for one to two minutes, the excess is blotted away, and a short cure under the lamp sets it.

03
Strengthening Every Plate

Strengthen is brushed over each plate in full and warmed for up to four minutes so it can travel into the upper layers. After blotting, a cure under the lamp locks it in place, and the surface is cleansed. On a first visit the whole sequence runs a second time with a two-minute warm, which builds the base that later sessions add to.

04
Finishing

After a single IBX treatment, nails feel smoother to the touch and are ready for a buff and oil, clear polish or colour. Nothing extra needs to set, so colour or an overlay goes on straight away. Before you leave, your technician books the gap to your next session and recommends daily cuticle oil at home.

Ibx treatments benefits

IBX Nail Treatment strengthening natural nails
  • Layer Sealing

The formula flows into gaps between separating keratin layers and cures there, so flaking tips hold together and stop catching on fabric.

  • Internal Toughness

    reach real length without snapping.

  • Surface Smoothing

Each application fills a little more of the ridges and pits, so the surface evens out and polish lies flat.

  • Removal Protection

Reinforced upper layers absorb the stress of gel soak-offs in place of your own keratin, so thickness holds between colour appointments.

FAQ

  • Does IBX treatment hurt?

No. You feel warmth under the heat source, noticeable but never enough to make you pull your hand away.

  • How long does an IBX appointment take?

A first standalone session takes about 30 minutes, and follow-ups around 15. Added to a manicure, it extends the visit by 15 to 20 minutes.

  • How often should I have IBX treatment for nails?

Weekly for three to four sessions if damage is heavy, then every two to four weeks to keep strength up. Each visit builds on the last.

  • Can I still have gel polish or BIAB?

Yes. The procedure sits inside the plate rather than on it, so any colour or overlay goes on top as normal.

  • Is ibx nail treatment safe?

The formula contains no formaldehyde and bonds to itself rather than to keratin, so the plate stays flexible instead of turning brittle. Its dense outer layer stops uncured liquid from reaching the skin beneath.

  • Who shouldn't have IBX?

Anyone with a plate lifting from the bed, a fungal infection or a past reaction to acrylates. Your technician checks for all of these at consultation.

  • How do you remove IBX nail treatment?

You don’t need to. Once cured, it becomes part of the keratin and can’t be soaked or filed off, so it grows out naturally over three to four months while any gel or polish on top comes off in the usual way.
